In 1911, Alper’s originally opened as a jewelry store by Samuel Alper a few doors down from their current location at 81 Main Street. That jewelry store slowly transformed during the first half the twentieth century through the purchase of a neighboring auto-parts store and Sam’s knack for sourcing what his customers needed when supplies were scarce. To this day, Alper’s has everything you need to start and complete project. Especially those hard to find items you won’t find anywhere else.
During the winter of 2009, we completed renovations to both of our buildings. The Annex is now Alper’s very own Benjamin Moore Signature store. The paint department features a spacious decision making area, custom color matching and everything the professional and do-it-yourselfer needs to paint one room or an entire house, inside or out. We carry a full line of Benjamin Moore paint including the latest in paint technology, Aura and Natura – their best performing and most eco-friendly lines of paint.
The newly renovated main store’s first floor has all of the hardware, electrical, plumbing, safety and cleaning supplies a do-it-yourselfer or professional could need. It now features an expanded Lawn & Garden department with everything you need to keep your yard looking its best. It features a large selection of “green” plant foods, fertilizers and pesticides that are safer for you, your family and the environment. “Green” options don’t stop there. The light bulb department features the latest in compact fluorescent light bulbs as well as new energy-saving LED technology.
Don’t forget to visit us upstairs. The second floor BBQ Department features a full line of Weber gas, electric and charcoal grills and smokers. Already have a grill? Get all of the accessories, wood chips and parts you need from their service department. And if you want to enjoy your cook-outs without getting eaten by mosquitoes, Alper’s is a certified Mosquito Magnet dealer and offers both sales and service. Upstairs also features a broad selection of vacuums and those hard to find bags. The second floor also features a full line of Miele vacuums, which we also service. Upstairs also houses storage containers, faucets, audio/visual accessories, phones and other assorted kitchen and bath accessories.
Services don’t stop with vacuums, BBQs and Mosquito Magnets. Alper’s also offers key cutting, lamp re-wiring, re-screening, glass & plexi-glass cutting, knife sharpening, handyman, propane exchange, delivery and special orders.
